RetrofitWorks Introduction

RetrofitWorks is owned by and works with community-based organisations to design and host all project stages of schemes that deliver energy saving and refurbishment works in buildings. Typically these organisations want to drive change but struggle to define that scheme and then organise a local supply chain to deliver it. They want to articulate an exciting offer to householders they represent and make it all happen seamlessly; the RetrofitWorks model enables that to happen.  It was created from the need to create a construction supply chain that meets the needs of the zero carbon Britain.

RetrofitWorks Mission: 

To create a self-sustaining market for transforming the existing housing stock of the UK that offers good value for money for the property owner or funder and a strong, predicable and consistent market in which local practitioners can build their businesses. It will create income for the community-based advocates that breathe life into it.

RetrofitWorks Purpose: Our purpose is to design and develop locally-led mechanisms and supply chains for transforming the energy use and living conditions for all UK homes.

RW Values:

–        To change attitudes both to building owners via Advocate members, and to the UK supply chains to transform the performance of the existing building stock of the UK.

–        Respect for the diversity of the field and for the views and contribution that each individual and organisation can bring.

–        100% transparency to all members and prospective members in order to build trust between those that wish to deliver improvements to existing houses, those that wish to create local markets, and the end customer.

–        Accountability to our membership, funders and wider public.

–        Professionalism in all we do.

RW Objectives:

–        To align our activities and processes with aims and aspirations of key Advocates such as Local Authorities, Landlords and Community Energy groups to:

o       significantly reduce the Carbon Dioxide emissions from the UK’s housing stock.

o       strengthen local economies by providing opportunity for smaller practitioner organisations to work locally

o       create a platform for all homes to be healthy homes.

–        To prioritise energy-focused refurbishment at the heart of all general domestic refurbishment.

–        To embed the right professional in every job to ensure correct design and assured quality, every time.

–        To demonstrate the value of our involvement in scheme delivery, building performance improvement and local economies
