Nationwide claims to be founded on the premise ‘We never forget we’re not installing windows in houses; we’re installing windows in people’s homes.’ Consequently, it places itself at the heart of the community and, particularly in North Wales, it has invested money and created new jobs.
Against a backdrop of severe cuts, the company is said to have ‘raised the ante’ in what public sector land lords can expect from their supplier.
Purely to service a contract to upgrade 4,176 North Wales homes, Nationwide has invested in has invested nearly £500,000 in a Bangor manufacturing facility providing 35 new jobs, including ten apprenticeships – in an area which has the highest unemployment in Gwynedd.
Resident satisfaction is reported to be 97%. There is an average £303.28d saving a year, per household, plus overall CO2 saving of around 40,178kg due to the installation of A-rated windows as standard.
Judges’ comments: For this contract to upgrade so many North Wales the company invested nearly half a million pounds in it’s Bangor manufacturing facility. This created 35 jobs including ten apprenticeships.
