NHIC objectives

To grow membership
We plan to clarify the membership offering and clearly demonstrate value to existing and new members.

Objectives:

  • Build on our reputation as an important organisation by retaining and developing our membership base
  • Increase our positive impact across UK Homes and be seen as influential and effective by our members, partners and stakeholders
  • Deliver demonstrable value

In support of this objective we will:

  • Represent our membership on at least one government think tank or steering group
  • Create an agreed framework for value and report regularly on progress and effectiveness

To encourage measures, improve living standards and reduce fuel poverty
We plan to understand current government targets and deliver activities which support these.

Objectives:

  • Proactively contribute through our membership in the implementation of the Bonfield Review / Every Home Matters
  • Proactively promote members products and services
  • Run at least one campaign focussed on improving living standards promoting the benefits of renovating and upgrading homes to high energy efficiency standards and with a focus on modern living requirements

In support of this objective we will:

  • Deliver value to members through evidence based promotion to the wider community
  • Increase our influence

To be the voice of the home improvement industry to government, opposition and Whitehall to ensure that housing policies and public funding are directed at home improvement

Objectives:

  • Create a strategy to ensure we have a genuine influence in the corridors of power within the UK Government, the media and other areas of influence
  • We will survey members to ensure we put forward their views to the decision makers at the heart of policy making
  • We will support our President with industry facts and figures to be used in public and parliamentary debate which support our core objectives of energy efficiency, taxation and adaption for climate change

In support of this objective we will:

  • Create a strategy for approval
  • Deliver at least two surveys per year to understand member views
  • Provide briefing papers which will then be shared across the membership

To act as a catalyst for public sector housing bodies to stimulate modernisation of existing housing
We plan to create a strategy focussed on delivering this objective.

Objectives:

  • Understand the challenges facing private and public sector housing bodies now and for the next 10 years
  • Understand our role
  • Understand where we might stimulate positive recordable action

In support of this objective we will:

  • Deliver value to members
  • Provide evidence based knowledge for debate and influence
