Publication in December of the Water White Paper should point out how desperate things are becoming to reduce worldwide water consumption.
At the moment our heads are just about above the crucial level. But in five years time this could be a different picture. Certainly, in future decades water will be critical for our children if decisive steps are not taken now!
This means that everyone involved (which means all of us) in the consumption of water must use much less!
According to Colin Kelly, director of Gas and Water, Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, the water industry faces ‘a host of seemingly unsustainable demands.” He suggests that innovation has never been more important to help deliver ’the step-changes required to meet future challenges.’
So we wait with bated to see what the Water White Paper has to deliver! The government is said to be ‘on our side’ and waiting with ‘long term investment for the future.’
But maybe water isn’t so high on George Osborne’s agenda?
